GMST Handbook and Meet Survival Guide
GMST,
We had a great first meet last week! In the spirit of continuous improvement and "Get better everyday" as our motto for the year, the board has also been meeting on how we can help improve the meet experience for everyone and run a smoother meet.
Attached, you will find the GMST Handbook. Most of this information is posted on the website as well, but we thought it was important information to send out to everyone. It contains a lot of very useful and important information on the team and our team rules.
You will also find a copy of our "Meet Survival Guide" that may help new parents guide through procedures at a meet or provide a refresher to our veteran parents on how a meet works.
Some important points we'd like to call to your attention:
1. The pavilion should be used for seating for kids. We know it's hot, but please try to reserve the pavilion area for kids to sit and hang out. We don't want to be chasing the kids down all over and want an environment where they can hang out together as a team.
2. We will have an additional tent this week to hopefully provide more shade and seating. If your family volunteers during the meet, we will have space for you to sit under the tent where you can cheer the team on in the shade!
3. It is the parents responsibility to get their kids over to the clerk of course area before the swim so that they can be guided to the correct lane and sat in a chair. We are working on improving the visibility of the Clerk of Course area- look for signs and improved processes here!
4. No kids in the pool during a meet, unless they are swimming in a race. This means no kids in the baby pool, diving well, or on the steps. Our team can be disqualified if kids are in the pool.
5. Please encourage your kids to cheer for GMST during the meet. We are a team and want to encourage each other throughout the meet.
Thanks for making GMST a great team!
