Final week update!
We have a lot to tell you about this week.
City Meet Entries
We have attached the report for entries that has been submitted in preparation for this weekend’s GKAISA City Championship Meet that will be held at UT’s Allen Jones Aquatic Center. This report is a list of all of the swimmers that have been entered in the meet. Please review this list and let us know immediately if your swimmer(s) have been listed and will not attend or if they are planning to attend and are not on the list. At this point, we are not soliciting feedback on the events your swimmer has been entered in, but whether or not we have signed them up for the meet properly. 11 and over swimmers will swim on Friday from about 7:30-4:30; 10 and under swimmers will swim on Saturday from about 7:30-4:30; and all swimmers and relays that finish in the top 16 will swim on Sunday from about 7:30-4:30. We will send out our warm-up times and volunteer jobs later this week.
Calling all Pictures
In preparation for our end of year banquet on August 1st, we are looking for your pictures from this season. Jacob Carpenter has volunteered to receive your pictures and prepare a slide show for us to enjoy at the banquet. Please email your pictures to [email protected]
Practice Schedule
There are a few changes to our normal practice schedule this week. Please take note of the changes.
Precompetitive swimmers will practice Monday and Tuesday as normal with their special meet on Wednesday evening. The meet will start promptly at 5 and we still need volunteers in order to run the meet. If you haven’t signed up to volunteer please add your name to the list on the board at the pool.
Swim Team swimmers will have a normal practice schedule on Monday-Thursday mornings. We will only have evening practice on Monday and Tuesday this week and we will have a pep rally on Thursday evening at 5:00. Come to the pool to get psyched up for City Meet and to make signs supporting our team.
Announcement from GKAISA about City Meet Traffic flow
Safety for athletes and spectators at the City Meet is our primary concern. We are working with and following the directions of the UT police with regards to traffic flow and drop-off zones. UT police are very experienced with dealing with large crowds of pedestrians and traffic converging in the same area. They manage both during UT football games and basketball games. They will be present to ensure safety and keep traffic flowing. Parked cars in traffic lanes will be ticketed. Moving cars will be expected to follow the officers' directions.
Please see the attached map of the UT area and traffic pattern. Unlike in years past, UT Drive will be open to traffic.
Shuttle busses and automobile traffic will be routed from Volunteer Blvd onto Andy Holt Ave. Andy Holt Ave. is a two-way street. Shuttle busses will turn right from Andy Holt Ave. onto UT Drive to deliver/pick-up passengers. Cars may do the same if their tent is located in the AJAIC area. For teams whose tents are in the Student Aquatic Center (SAC) area, they should continue past UT Drive and unload/pickup in front of the Student Aquatic Center.
Please note that Volunteer Blvd between UT Drive and Pat Head Summit Drive is closed due to construction.
Have a great week. Go Green Meadow!!
