GMST Week 2
Happy Sunday GMST,
I hope everyone had a great first week of practice. Thank you for your continued patience as we make adjustments and get everyone settled in the correct groups. Please see below for announcements and reminders.
Green and White Meet: The Green & White Meet is THIS THURSDAY. The coaches would like to encourage ALL swimmers who can swim a lap (or close to it) to attend this meet. It's just for fun and a great way to see what a meet is like. There will be coaches in the water to assist the younger swimmers who may need some reassurance.
Please sign up if you are attending on Swimtopia-- Go to our website and log in with the login created at registration. Under "Swim Meets" you will be able to RSVP for the meet and also volunteer to work at the meet. Please sign up by Tuesday at noon if you plan on attending. If you are unable to make it to the meet, it would also be helpful to the coaching staff if you marked that you cannot attend. Warmups for the meet will be at 5 pm so we ask that all swimmers arrive by 4:45. A roster for team green and team white will be released by Wednesday morning.
We still need volunteers to make sure the meet runs smoothly. This is a great meet to learn new positions as well- parents will be training and explaining positions. Please sign up to volunteer if you are able.
Meet Apps: There are 3 apps that are helpful (although not required) for this seasons meets. We introduced a new timing system last year that will help with your swimmers times AND has some really cool live results features-- Time Drops Live! is the app. We will be using Swimtopia for our meet entries so you can see what your kids are swimming and their results, and X (@greenmeadowswim) for event calls and other announcements.

Parent Information and Volunteer Information Meetings: Mark your calendars for Monday, June 1st where we will host multiple rounds of information meetings to answer any questions and provide information on the team and volunteering. We will hold 7 sessions in total, 1 at each practice session (8:30, 9:45, 10:15, 11:15, 5:00pm, 5:30pm, 6:00pm). Meetings will begin approximately 5 minutes after practice starts, so that you can get your kids in the water and then come join us. If you have questions you'd like answered, please submit them here--> Parent Questions If you are unable to attend a meeting on June 1, we will get the information summarized and sent out afterward.
Coaches Meals: Our coaches will be staying after practice every Friday to debrief about the week and plan for the next week. They will also be working on meet entries on some Fridays and some other days during the season. We'd love to provide them with lunch so they can get right to work after practice without having to scatter to find food. If you are willing and able to sign up to supply a lunch for our coaches, they would very much appreciate it. Feel free to team up with other parents as well. These are low-key lunches, so anything works! We generally have around 10 coaches at lunch. Coaches Lunch Sign-Ups
City Meet: It's never too early to bring up our Championship meet, which will be July 23-25 at UT. We want to be able to take all of our swimmers to that meet. In order to qualify, swimmers must participate in 2 official Dual Meets or Smoky Mountain this summer. Please consider signing up for some of our dual meets so that you can qualify for City Meet!
See you at the pool this week!
