GMST Week 3
Happy Meet Week, Green Meadow! The coaching staff is super excited about our meet against Village Green on Tuesday. We need to make sure we are all ready to swim fast and cheer each other on! This is a huge dual meet against one of our biggest rivals so we need as many people there as possible. Parents, there are still numerous volunteer positions that we need filled before Tuesday. I will send out more information about the meet tomorrow. The deadline to register for the meet is noon today.
Village Green Meet: Tomorrow, an email will go out regarding more information about the meet on Tuesday. The meet is also picture day, so swimmers should arrive at 3:45, for the team picture at 4. Individual pictures will be taken starting at 3:30 if swimmers are interested. The theme for the meet is Superheroes.
Field Day: Field day is this Friday, June 13th. Field Day will run from 10-12 and will be at Pearson Springs Park. Make sure you RSVP for Field Day before Thursday, so we can put swimmers into teams. There will be no swim practice on Friday because of Field Day.
Parking Lot Paving: The club will finish paving the parking lot tomorrow, June 9th. It will impact only the lower parking lot in front of the pool (Fixing the bare areas). Please be prepared to park in the upper lot that morning, and note that there will be fewer parking spaces than normal.
Training Focus of the Week: This week's focus is Breaststroke! This will be the main focus in practice this week. Swimmers interested in getting extra help outside of practice can utilize clinics from coaches run on Monday and Wednesday from 12:35-1:20 and are BREASTSTROKE and are split into groups - new to breaststroke (beginner), and refining already existing breaststroke skills (advanced). The beginner group is with Coach Madi, and the advanced group will be coached by Coach Matt. The clinic from 1:30-2:15 is working on starts and turns with Coach Madi. Each clinic is $20/swimmer.
Swimmers of the Week: The coaching staff met on Friday and determined that the swimmers of the week are the following.
Brook McMurray, Lucy Greene, Louden Cate, and Eva Hammett
These swimmers showed great improvement over the week, as well as were consistently attentive to coaches and open to feedback. Swimmers can pick up their certificate on Monday as well as their prize.
PB-O-Meter: For those at practice on Friday, you saw that we accomplished 202 personal bests at the Green and White meet. That means we have hit our first goal of 200 best times. In the lobby, swimmers will see a poll on which coach they want pied in the face at the meet on Tuesday. Each swimmer gets one vote, and voting will end at noon on Tuesday.
City Meet: It's never too early to bring up our Championship meet, which will be July 10-12 at UT. We want to be able to take all of our swimmers to that meet. In order to qualify, swimmers must participate in 1 official Dual Meet this summer. Please consider signing up for one of our dual meets (like June 10th vs Village Green) so that you can qualify for City Meet!
Coach Shout Outs: We love hearing your positive feedback! Drop a comment or shout-out for your coaches (Coach Shout Outs) and let us know who’s making a difference
Lastly, Ribbons from Green and White will be put in each swimmer's box located in the lobby on Monday morning.
Let’s have a great week and bring the energy Tuesday night!
—Coach Sam
