GMST Week 2
Happy Sunday GMST,
I hope everyone had a great first week of practice. There are a few events this week that we want to make sure you are aware of.
Green and White Meet: The Green & White Meet is THIS THURSDAY. Please sign up if you are attending on Swimtopia-- Go to our website and log in with the login created at registration. Under "Swim Meets" you will be able to RSVP for the meet and also volunteer to work at the meet. Please sign up by Tuesday at noon if you plan on attending. If you are unable to make it to the meet, it would also be helpful to the coaching staff if you marked that you cannot attend. Warmups for the meet will be at 5 pm so we ask that all swimmers arrive by 4:45. A roster for team green and team white will be released by Wednesday morning.
Prime Aquatics Clinic: Prime Aquatics is putting on a free clinic for GMST swimmers on June 4th from 6-7 pm. The focus of the clinic is starts and breakouts. To RSVP for the clinic you need to email Cameron Higdon at [email protected]. To participate in the clinic you must reserve a spot. We will have a very small practice on Tuesday for those that cannot do the clinic, but would love for everyone that can participate in the clinic to sign up for it.
SMI Deadline: The deadline for athletes attending SMI is next Wednesday, June 12th. Please RSVP on Swimtopia if you plan on attending. Entries for the meet must be submitted two weeks in advance and all entries are final so please ensure that your commitment does not change for the meet.
Practice Etiquette: The coaching staff wanted to provide a reminder of the expectations during practices for parents. We ask that parents do not hover along the side of the pool during practice. This causes the pool deck to be congested and makes it harder for coaches to effectively monitor their lanes. Also, we ask that parents do not approach coaches while they are coaching on deck. If they have questions they can talk to coaches after practice or email [email protected].
Lastly, we are still accepting donations for dive sticks and rings. These help with the development of our learn to swim group so any donations would be helpful! Donations can be dropped off in the office.
