GMST Week 1 Additional items
Hi GMST Family-
We are 3 days in and hopefully your kids are finding their groups and getting acquainted to the team! The first couple of days are always chaotic and take a lot of adjustments from everyone until we find our groove. Your kids will start getting the hang of it and our coaches will keep making adjustments as well as we move through the season!
A couple of items we wanted to send out this week for housekeeping:
Coaches Meals: Our coaches will be staying after practice every Friday to debrief about the week and plan for the next week. They will also be working on meet entries on some Fridays and some other days during the season. We'd love to provide them with lunch so they can get right to work after practice without having to scatter to find food. If you are willing and able to sign up to supply a lunch for our coaches, they would very much appreciate it. Feel free to team up with other parents as well. These are low-key lunches, so anything works! We generally have around 10 coaches at lunch. Coaches Lunch Sign-up
Prime Stroke Clinic: Prime Aquatics will be offering a clinic on Tuesday, June 4th from 6:00-7:00. This clinic will take place in lieu of our normal evening practice for older kids on that Tuesday evening (8 and unders will still practice 5:00-5:45). The clinic will focus on starts and breakouts. To reserve your spot, email [email protected].
Green & White Meet: Our first meet is next Thursday! The Green & White meet is an intersquad meet to get us warmed up and ready for a real meet. Anyone is welcome to sign up to attend it. It's a great way to see what a meet looks like and for all of our swimmers to race and get some times recorded. Please RSVP for the meet no later than Tuesday, June 4th at noon. It takes our coaches a significant amount of time to put a lineup together for a meet. Please try to get your RSVPs as accurate as possible- we know that things pop up such as illnesses, but would like to limit last minute changes as they impact many other swimmers.
Meet Themes: Our coaches have decided on meet themes for the season! These are just for fun- we know our kids love to dress up!
- Green & White Meet- Wear your teams colors (Green or White)
- KRC Meet (June 18th) - Tie Dye
- Beaver Brook (June 24th)- Hawaiian
- Village Green (July 2) - Red White and Blue
- Smoky Mountain - Green Out!
- City Meet and Sugarwood are TBD (Seniors will decide)
- 8 And Under Meet- Superheroes
Fun Friday Donuts: On Fridays, we try to incorporate a little bit more fun to end our week. One of the fun things we do is have donuts available for the kids. Donuts are $1 per donut. The coaches will have a little table set up after each practice with donuts!
Officials Clinic: There is an officials clinic tomorrow night (May 30th) at Grace Church Annex (downtown Maryville) from 6:30-8:00. If you are interested in getting certified to be a stroke & turn official or starter, we'd love to have you join at the clinic!
Merchandise: Our Pokey's store will close on FRIDAY. If you want to order any shirts or gear- place your order now!

Sponsorships: Last call for any sponsors for the season! We try to keep our fees as low as possible, and one way we can do that, as well as to provide extra fun items and equipment for the team, is by having sponsorships. We have multiple sponsorship levels available starting at $250. If you are interested or want further information, please email us at [email protected]. It's a great way to advertise to hundreds of families as well!
Remind App: We use the Remind app during the season for quick communication. This has come in handy for weather-related delays and cancellations. Join your group today to ensure you receive the quickest and most up-to-date information for the season.
Thanks!
GMST
