GMST 2023: Season Start
Hello GMST Families,
The summer swim season begins next Monday! I hope you are planning to join us for our first day of practices and our annual pancake breakfast. The grills will be fired up at 8:30am and will be throwing out pancakes all morning. You can stop by anytime to enjoy pancakes for breakfast, brunch, or lunch :) For our meal to be amazing, we are asking that parents sign-up to bring something if possible. Visit our website and sign-up for a job for the Pancake Breakfast. From there you will be able to sign-up for important items we need for the event.
Registration
On Monday, and on most days for the next week or so, we will be asking your swimmer to check-in when they arrive at the pool. We cannot allow swimmers to participate in the pool until their online registration is complete, including fee payment. If you have chosen to pay for the season by check or cash, plan to have that with you on the first day you arrive for practice. If you would like to pay by card, we will have that option available, but we will need to add an additional $6 to cover the credit card fees. If you have any questions about fee payments or registrations, please reach out by replying to this email and we will answer your questions as quickly as possible.
Team Tshirts
Round 1 of our Tshirt store has closed and Pokey’s is working hard to get our shirts printed and ready. If you were able to get an order in during this first round, shirts will be available to pick up at the pool next week. If you were not able to get an order in before the store closed, a new store link will be available very soon and will be sent out as quickly as possible.
Remind App
We use the remind app during the season for quick communication. This has come in handy for weather related delays and cancellations. Join your group today to ensure you receive the quickest and most up-to-date information for the season.

Team Suit
Our team suit for the season is called Puzzled (in green) by Arena. You are welcome to purchase this suit online at your favorite swimming retailer (swimoutlet.com is a good one to try) or you may purchase it online or in person from Swim & Tri. https://www.swimandtri.com/
Senior Group Lake Day
This year the 15–18-year-old swimmers will be getting together for a lake day! If your swimmer falls into this age category, mark your calendar for Friday, June 2 and visit our website to register and learn more information about this event.
Volunteers
There are several opportunities coming up in the next few weeks to learn more about volunteering. Our meets cannot happen without the commitment of parent volunteers. We would love to help you get more involved by answering your questions and giving you opportunities to learn about each of the positions. We will be hosting volunteer information meetings during practices on Monday, June 5 to give you that opportunity. Mark your calendar and plan to attend one of the meetings planned for that day.
If you have been volunteering for a while and are looking for the next step, plan to attend the Certified Officials Training scheduled for Thursday, June 1 at 7:00pm at Grace Community Church Annex in downtown Maryville. At this meeting you will learn more about competitive swimming, the importance of officiating, and be trained as a Stroke and Turn judge. You can also find out the next steps for becoming certified as a Starter and Ref. These positions are very important, and we need committed parents to step up and fill these roles. If you have questions about being a certified volunteer, please reach out to our volunteer coordinators Hana Rothenberg [email protected] or Claude Hardy [email protected].
Attached you will find a document outlining our important events for the season. You can also find this information on our website along with links for registering for each event.
As always, feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
See you next week at the pool!
