Hi GMST Family! 

Summer is right around the corner and we are gearing up for an awesome 2021 swim season! Lots of announcements and updates for you below.

New Head Coach:  We'd love to give a warm welcome to our new Head Coach, Breanna Halsey. Breanna swam for UT 2009-2013 and has been coaching in the area for a number of years. Some highlights from her long and impressive resume:

• Swam in the 2008 Olympic Trials (200 IM, 400IM, 100 & 200 Breaststroke)
• 3rd Place in the 100 Breaststroke at the 2010 SEC Championships
• Top 100 in the world in the 200 IM and 100 Breast (2008)
• Head Coach at Lenoir City Middle & High School(2016-2021) 
• Head Coach at Concord Hills (2016-2020)
• Assistant coach at various teams (2010-2015) 

Breanna and her husband William welcomed their son, Oliver, in January. You'll get to see lots of baby Oliver on the pool deck coaching this summer! 

A quick note from Coach Breanna:

"GMST Parents and Swimmers, It is my honor to serve as your Head Coach for the 2021 Summer swim season. Summer swim has always held a special place in my heart as my swimming career began on a summer team. I had the best role model of a coach who combined fun with competitiveness and always believed you could do more than what you believed. Ever since I began coaching I have held this same philosophy and strive to foster the same vision. I look forward to growing each of your swimmers both in and out of the water and thank you for the opportunity to be part of the Green Meadow family! Let's go GMST!"

Registration: Registration for the summer season is LIVE! You can register online anytime at www.gmst.swimtopia.com.

2021 Updates: We are still working to finalize all of the details for the 2021 season. We are working to ensure we have a safe and fun season this summer. While there will likely still be some carryover of rules from 2020, we hope that we will be able to do more this summer. For starters, we are planning on doing learn to swim again this summer and will have coaches in the water this summer again. We will be working to ensure that we are doing these things safely and will likely still ask parents to sign up for the practices their children will be attending so we can monitor attendance levels. More to come as we get closer to the season! 

Open House Zoom Call: We will be holding a Parent information/Open House zoom call on Monday, April 19th at 7:00pm. This will be a time when we cover information for the upcoming season and you'll get a chance to meet and speak with Coach Breanna. If you have any questions you'd like to have covered on the zoom, please feel free to send them in! We will send out the zoom information in the next week or so. 

T-Shirt Contest: We are holding a contest to design our 2021 t-shirts. You don't have to be an artist- send in your design ideas to us in any format you'd like. The winner will win a great prize and bragging rights that their idea made it onto the shirt. 

Coaching Applications: We are currently taking applications for assistant coaches and high school coaches. Coaches must be 16 years old to apply. Please apply online by filling out this quick form: GMST Coach Application. Do you know any college age or older coaches that would love to work with us? Please send them this link as well! We have multiple positions we are filling this summer!
